They all rely on their own algorithms for determining search results. What techniques they is what they don't their want competitors to know. They are all search engines that have something unique to offer, don;t be afraid to check out different search engines to find results. Google is steppin on microsoft with the introdiuction of web browsers, mobile OS, web apps, etc..
